How can materialism rob you of a financially free future? What can you do to avoid this monster?

You need to avoid getting caught up in materialism, dont let the ads convince you to get a product. You need to avoid all of the stuff that you dont need that end up just causing your problems latter on. A new shiny car is not going to make your life any better even if a sales man says that it will. People get caught up in this world of stuff and end up running on the hedonistic treadmill for their whole lives. If you want to retire some day you have to live for the future and not live for the present by stealing from the future.

    Well said, Garrett. Let’s review.

    (1) There is always something bigger, better and more “amazing” to people who get caught up on that hedonic treadmill buying, and buying, and buying. “Stuff” will not bring you the happiness you desire. The sooner in life you learn this fact, the better off you are going to be.

    (2) Educate yourself on how marketing and advertising works so you can defend yourself against it. Spending less will provide you the ability to save and invest more. This is how you change the course of your life!

    (3) You want more happiness in your life? Serve others. Give rather than receive. You and the other parties win in more ways than you and I can imagine. Giving is the solution to happiness. Believe in that and believe in YOU.
