Stuff is just a bunch of depriciating assets that you really dont need, the new Lexus is no better than your old Toyota you have taken care of for years, new clothing does not make you a better person, all of these items cost you a large amount of money you could have invested in No-load index funds and have gotten a return on, If you save your money and not spend it you will have a decent retirement account once you reach that step in life, you would then be able to leave work and do what makes you truly happy in your life, weather that be give your time to a worthy cause, a hobby, or just spending time with your family.

When Detaching your self-image from things, I like to call second hand stuff, is a bunch of items that may seem to make one’s image flourishing. Having luxurious items such as a big fancy house, or driving a very expensive car will ruin your chance to reach financial freedom and true happiness. The reason for this is because making monthly payments on all these “fancy” items take away money that could be yours. Your money that could be very well invested into no load index funds at Vanguard. Taking a big step in a young person shoes is the best time to consider investing. Disciplining your monthly expenses, investing in a Roth IRA and no load index funds will create a stress free retirement, and live what is called the “True American Dream” of financial freedom and happiness of enjoying life. Planning your future now than later.

    Well said, gentlemen. Let’s review.

Folks who get caught up with materialism end up in debt much of the time as they keep reaching for the next “great” thing. This stops them from saving their money. That savings is the ticket to the ultimate prize. Financial freedom and the opportunities it will provide. Detach from “stuff,” your world will never be the same!
