Research and life experience tells us that buying “stuff” does not bring true and meaningful happiness. What does? Why does it matter?

Giving to others will make you much happier then making more money. This matters because as you make more money you may get stuck on the hedonic treadmill, where you get stuck spending more as you make more and not gaining any happens from it.instead of spending more as you make more, you can choose to give back and gain true happiness.

  2. Garrett Haag says:

Making other people happy brings one true happiness, spending your money to help those who are less fortunate than you are is what will bring your fulfillment curve to the next level. The reason stuff does not bring one happiness is because it is just stuff, it grows boring and less exciting soon after you get it, the new car is no longer new, your house that is the best on the block will not be some day, but the friends you make and the people you help will last forever, you will not be forgotten if you buy a homeless person a meal or even just donate your old clothes or old food to a drive, they really will appreciate your generosity.

Two wonderful answers, gentlemen. I am so very impressed. Let’s take a look at what research has to tell us on the subject.

    Enabling Happiness:

    1. Fit and healthy bodies
    2. Realistic goals and expectations
    3. Positive self-esteem
    4. Feelings of control
    5. Optimism
    6. Outgoingness
    7. Supportive friendships
    8. Challenging work and active leisure
    9. Faith or spirituality that entails communal support, purpose, acceptance, and outward focus, and hope
    10. The belief in YOU and your ability to change and help others along the way

Focus your efforts on these 10 points as you find your way through this maze we call life. Just keep this primary message in mind: The biggest enemy you will ever face in your lifetime will be that person in the mirror.

Conquer that person and the treasures of life will start showing up at your doorstep. Believe it, and believe in you and what you can ultimately do with your life. YOU are the answer!
