Advertisers rely on the idea of “buying happiness.” Why must you see through this illusion? How?

Because you can’t buy happiness. You can see through this illusion by understanding that advertisers’ income depends on you buying in to this illusion of acquiring stuff to buy you happiness.

  2. Alex Christianson says:

You must realize that advertisers put those there to influence you to purchase their goods or services. Many times they will use your humanity, your emotions to acheive this because it works, it brings home the bacon for them. You must see through this because materialism and buying things on an impulse is harmful for your finances. You can see through this illusion by taking some time to remember the reality that they are trying to convince you in just about any way they can.

Great answers, but I think Alex really captured the depth of the question. You cannot buy happiness no matter how many times they tell you it is possible. “Stuff” is not the answer nor has it ever been the answer to finding true and long lasting happiness. Katherine and Alex get that. Do you?
