What is bait and switch and how is it used to empty your pockets and your bank account?

  1. Richard Guillory says:

This is when deception is used to get you to come in, then the sales person attempts to get you to purchase something more expensive. For instance, a sale on an expensive car. When you arrive, you are told they ran out of that car, or that you just missed the sale. Then they attempt to sell you cars on their lot that are not as valuable, or more expensive.

You are exactly right, Richard. Well done my friend! Let’s recap. The business provides the bait (something cheap and “amazing”) to get you interested and in the door (could be a car lot, convenience store, department store, investment company, etc.). Once there, you show you other “better” stuff that may very well entice you into spending more money than you ever meant to. This is done everyday in America. What can you do about it?

First, understand how bait and switch works. Second, stop thinking you can get something for little or nothing. Bait and switch feeds off this type of thinking and behavior. Third, do your research and buy what you can afford while ignoring salespeople along the way. This requires YOU to take control of YOU and your thinking and behaviors. Conquer YOU and you will conquer the world!
