Money and happiness are connected, just not in the ways many people think. How can we use money to bring more happiness into our lives?

Many people believe that money is connected to happiness in the way that we can buy things that will make us happy. Going down this spiral will cause you to become more unhappy. Money is connected to happiness in the way that it can help you get to the point where you have “enough”. This is where you have all your needs met, you’re comfortable, and have luxuries.

Even more than money, giving will give you happiness. At the point where you have enough, you can choose to rise above that and give. You can also choose to continue down a path of trying to buy your happiness, but that will just cause you to feel less and less fulfilled.

Well said, Thomas. I really enjoyed your answer. As many of you probably realize, this question is rather subjective. Thomas shared his version which I agree with and I will add my own commentary.

Chasing after more and more money has never been the answer to finding a high level of happiness. It never was and it never will be. Advertising paints a different picture, but advertising is about selling dreams, not reality. Do not let advertising sell you an illusion that is not real. You will be disappointed.

Money can be used to solidify a life so each of us can prioritize what is really important in the big scheme of things. That big thing in my mind is giving. Helping our fellow man, woman and animal is the best way to reaching true and long lasting happiness. Not more “stuff.” Not more activity. Not more money.

Saying all of that, money that is handled wisely and efficiently over long periods of time can open up your life to give more. This could mean giving of your experience, your expertise, your time, your possessions, and yes, even your money. Money provides opportunities. It is up to us to use those opportunities wisely to bring happiness to us as well as others. Giving = Happiness. I believe it boils down to that.
